Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) provide tailored assistance for young people transitioning from school to work. These supports help participants explore their work potential, build skills, and gain confidence, independence, and experience in various employment settings.

SLES is available to NDIS participants between the ages of 16-26. These supports are tailored to young people who are looking to transition into work or education, regardless of their specific abilities or interests. SLES is funded for two years, however extra funding is available for those participants who may need extra support to improve the likelihood of an employment outcome.
SLES is personalised and may include work experience, job coaching, skills training, travel training, resume preparation, job application support, interview preparation, and much more. The aim is to build both ‘hard’ and ‘soft’ skills needed for employment.
Funding for SLES is typically included in an NDIS plan during the participant’s final year of school or after leaving school. The funding depends on the participant’s employment goals, individual circumstances, and assessments provided during the planning conversation.
Yes, participants have the choice to select their preferred SLES provider. It is recommended to meet with multiple providers, ask questions about the types of supports they offer, and find a provider that best fits your individual needs and goals.
